Robert Heinlein, an American author wrote, “A generation which ignores history has no past and no future.” We are a generation that have ignored history in the true sense. Because we are denied knowledge of our true history. Marcus Garvey, a Jamaican-born political leader and social activist, has rightly said, “A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.” In the true sense of the term, we are a tree without roots. The fact that Hindus are still in majority despite frequent attacks by Islamic plunderers for several centuries corroborates that they majority stuck to beliefs and traditions despite tortures and many regions remained untouched by Islamic invaders. MA Khan in his book Islamic Jihad: A Legacy of Forced Conversion, Imperialism, and Slavery gives a reason why Hindus are still a majority – that Hindus “resolutely endured extreme social, cultural and religious degradation, humiliation and deprivation as well as crushing burden of discriminatory taxes and still stuck to their ancestral religion even after a millennium of brutal Islamic rule.” The fact that a huge majority of the population in those parts are now Muslims proves that Muslim rulers could impose Islam more effectively in areas, where they had strong political power over a longer period of time.” During the first three centuries after Qasim’s foray into Sindh in 712, Muslim rule remained confined to a tiny Northwest area of vast India. In the words of MA Khan quoted in his book Islamic Jihad: A Legacy of Forced Conversion, Imperialism, and Slavery, “…although Muslims theoretically ruled India for over eleven centuries, they hardly ever managed to secure a complete hold over the entire country. Many regions could not be touched by Mughals or other Islamic plunderers given the military strength of the respective rulers. Rather we are taught more about glories of invaders. But these glorious stories are kept hidden.
There are hundreds of valorous victories by our ancestors from the east to west, north to south from 8th century to 18th century – the period of Islamic invasion, plunder, and rule. Indian rulers did offer stiff resistance to invaders. Islamic invaders ruled only parts of India, not India as our history books tell us. And history, which we are being taught, hides the glories of our ancestors. Did our ancestors offer stiff resistance and win battles? A BIG YES! Real history tells us a different story. Victories of Indian Warriors against Islamic Invaders that History Books Ignoredĭid Islamic invaders rule the whole of Bharat as projected in our history books? Did the Mughal Empire cover the whole of India? Were we always defeated? Did the rulers always surrender without a fight? It is a BIG NO.
